Stephen P. DeFalco
President and CEO

Stephen is President and CEO of MDS Inc. and a member of the MDS Board of Directors. Stephen joined MDS from U.S. Genomics where he was Chairman and CEO. Prior to his role at U.S. Genomics, he served as President of PerkinElmer Instruments and Senior Vice-President of PerkinElmer Inc. Stephen has held senior management positions at United Technologies and McKinsey & Company in their high tech sector.

Andrew W. Boorn

Dr. Andrew W. Boorn
President, MDS Analytical Technologies

Dr. Boorn joined  MDS Inc.  in 1983, and since then has held a number of positions, including Senior Research Scientist, Vice-President, Business Development, and Senior Vice-President, Operations. He was appointed President of MDS Sciex in January 2000. In 2007, MDS Inc. acquired Molecular Devices Corporation which joined with MDS Sciex under the new name of MDS Analytical Technologies.

Thomas E. Gernon

Chief Information Officer

Tom joined MDS Inc. as Chief Information Officer (CIO) in September 2005. Prior to joining MDS, Tom was COO of D2Hawkeye Inc., a healthcare software development company. Tom has held CIO positions at both PerkinElmer Inc. and J.P. Morgan Invest, as well as senior management positions at Staples Inc. and Fidelity Investments.

Kenneth L. Horton

Executive Vice-President, Corporate Development and General Counsel

Ken joined MDS Inc. as Vice-President, Corporate Development and General Counsel in December 2005. Prior to joining MDS, Ken was Vice President, Acquisitions, Ventures and General Counsel for the Analytical Sciences business unit at PerkinElmer, Inc. While at PerkinElmer he led the planning, negotiation and closing of numerous strategic transitions and managed relationships with the FDA and other global regulatory agencies. Prior to joining PerkinElmer, Ken practiced corporate law with Ropes and Gray in Boston and was previously a strategy consultant in the US and Europe.

Janet Ko

Senior Vice-President, Communications

Janet Ko was appointed Senior Vice-President, Communications, in April 2008. Since joining MDS in November 2003, Janet has held increasingly senior roles in Communications and Organizational Development. Prior to joining MDS, she was head of communications for Pharmacia Canada, and held senior communications posts at GlaxoSmithKline and Ontario's Ministry of the Attorney General.

Douglas Prince

Douglas S. Prince
Executive Vice-President Finance and Chief Financial Officer

Douglas Prince joined MDS in March 2007. He has more than 28 years of experience in finance and operations management, most recently as Vice-President Finance at PerkinElmer Inc. Prior to that, Mr. Prince spent more than half of his career with General Electric where he led strategic turnarounds, acquisitions, integrations and productivity initiatives. He also held leadership roles with Aeroquip-Vickers and AlliedSignal.

David Spaight

David Spaight
President, MDS Pharma Services

David Spaight joined MDS as President, MDS Pharma Services, in April 2006. He has more than 20 years of experience in the global life sciences industry, most recently as Senior Vice-President, Global Sales and Marketing, Fisher Scientific Products. Prior to that, David was Vice-President, Global Sales and Marketing at PerkinElmer Inc., where he led a workforce of more than 1,400 people in 40 countries, and was responsible for $1.1 B in revenues.

Steve M. West

Steven M. West
President, MDS Nordion

Steve joined MDS Capital in 2001 as a senior partner after serving as President, DiverseyLever Canada. His background includes various CEO assignments in Asia and the Pacific Rim, as well as international business development responsibilities in the specialty chemicals field. He was appointed to his current position at MDS in April 2003.
